DORA

Category: Initiative
Target group: Research institutions, funding organisations, scholarly societies, publishers, and researchers involved in evaluation and decision-making processes within the research system.
Description: The Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) is a global initiative supported by organisations worldwide, including funders, professional associations, publishers, and academic institutions. Its vision is to promote practical, robust approaches to research assessment across all disciplines, fostering responsible, transparent, and fair evaluation practices. Both individuals and organisations can sign the declaration, committing to improving the culture of research assessment
The Norwegian Career Assessment Matrix (NOR-CAM)
Category: Initiative
Target group: Higher education institutions, research organisations, funders, peer reviewers, and researchers involved in evaluating and fostering academic careers.
Description: A working group established by Universities Norway (UHR) was tasked with recommending guidelines for the assessment and evaluation of research and researchers in the context of the transition to Open Science. The group recommends a more flexible and holistic framework for recognition and reward in academic research evaluation.

National Chapter Germany

Category: Initiative
Target group: German universities, research organisations, funders, and other CoARA members contributing to the implementation of research assessment reform in Germany.
Description:
The CoARA National Chapter Germany focuses on three main goals:

Offering a forum for discussion and coordination of CoARA-related topics within Germany.

Supporting the practical implementation of reforms in research evaluation and culture, while fostering experience-sharing among members.

Acting as a point of contact for German organisations interested in research assessment reform.
By doing so, the National Chapter enhances the visibility and effectiveness of reform efforts in Germany and contributes to a cultural change in research.

Description: Tools to Advance Research Assessment (TARA) is an international project led by DORA, supporting the creation of new guidelines and practices for assessing academic performance.

Target group: Researchers, research managers, funders, librarians, and stakeholders in science and higher education policy who engage with the development and reform of research assessment procedures.
